Fly Swatter - Do You Still Use This Old Fly Killer?

People all around the world used to kill flies as well as other insects with a fly swatter. However, the question remains whether you can still use it these days.

For you who aren't familiar with it, this swatter is a hand-held device for swatting flies and insects. This fly killer device is lightweight, flexible, and usually made of materials like rubber or plastic and attached to a wire or plastic handle. It contains one small rectangular sheet which is around 4 inches or 10 centimeters wide and the handle which is about 2 feet or 0.61 meters in size.

Way back in the summer of 1905, Kansas was highly affected by an insurgence of flies. This caused the spread of multiple diseases. Dr. Samuel Crumbine who was a member of the Kansas Health Board invented the term fly swatter through a bulletin published. It is said that he had his inspiration from a Topeka Softball game.

In response to his calls, Frank H.Rose, a school teacher invented the "fly bat" and taking cue from him, Dr. Crumbine invented the fly swatter in its current form that's used to kill flies by swatting them.

The sheet of this fly killer is designed with the vents which enable you for doing quick movement through the air, getting closer to a fast moving flying target easily. The other reason is because the flies can easily detect solid objects moving towards them due to change in the air pressure.

The vents system helps the air pressure to remain static and makes its movement hard to be detected fast. By the time this insect is able to finally detect it, it is too close and that is how it helps kill this flying insect with less effort.

However, now, this fly swatter evolves to electric fly swatter which offers more advantages to kill flies. This particular system also makes it become one of the most used tools to kill flying insects until today.

Smoking and Skin Wrinkles

If you are a smoker, you probably have heard the warnings more than once. You know that smoking can impact just about every aspect of your health. But do you know that smoking can also destroy the health of your skin? It can make you look older by creating wrinkles and drying out your skin and all that happens fairly quick compared to other things that affect aging of your skin. It alters the color of your skin as well. This gives you yet another reason to try to kick that habit.

Smoking impacts your circulatory system, which is a huge health impact. This produces health risks and harms your skin as well. The layers of your skin are not properly nourished when there is not proper blood flow. Elasticity in your skin will be affected by smoking. Your body will start to produce more free radicals and therefore increase your risks of disease and illness while also damaging the skin. Smoking will even dehydrate your skin causing dry and unhealthy skin layers.

You will develop more wrinkles than people who do not smoke. The wrinkles will be even more noticeable and can age you a great deal. The tone of your skin will change with years of smoking. It might already be looking yellow with hints of gray. So not only will you not feel so great, your skin won't look too good either. The best thing you can do for yourself is to stop smoking. If you are exposed to second hand smoke on a regular basis your skin can also be affected. Try to get the loved ones in your life to stop smoking.

You might find it difficult to stop smoking or simply not be willing to try. There are a few things you can try to reduce effects of smoking on your skin. You will want to eat foods with plenty of Vitamins C, A and E. Try using antioxidant creams to help fight free radicals. Look for skin products that contain nutrients that are ideal for the skin. Remember, the best option for your health and just as importantly for your skin is by far is to quit smoking.

Things You Can Do With a USB Memory Stick

USB memory sticks are great to move data files from one computer to another, but there are many other things you can do with a USB memory stick. While many IT professionals already use memory sticks for advanced functionality, many consumers don't even know that additional functionality exist. As an example, you can host an entire array of mobile applications on a memory stick. One of the most popular applications for this purpose is the portable Firefox. Firefox is a great open source web browser and the portable version allows you to use it even on locked down computers at work or in a public library. Just plug-in the memory stick and off you go. There is a large array of applications available - including FTP software as well.

If you are interested in developing websites and need to have a unique development environment while working on different computers, why not install a LAMP configuration on your USB stick?! LAMP is shortened for "Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP" and represents everything you need to develop websites. One install and you can carry your development environment with you at any time. And yes - you can actually boot an entire operating system from a USB stick.

Another great feature is that you can use your memory stick for increased computer security. This is one of my favorites actually. Search the web for the Predator application and you can turn your USB stick into a device that is needed to log into your computer. Once you pull the USB stick out, nobody can log into your computer. The USB Stick (and the associated application) is needed to unlock your computer.

USB memory sticks can be used to be a multimedia player or as a movie player with movie library. If you run Windows Vista a memory stick can be used to expand your computer's memory - as long as it is Ready Boost certified. Many older computers cannot carry more physical memory and so the memory expansion via USB memory stick is a cheap and easy way to make that old computer go the extra mile and to reduce the need for a new computer.

Is an Electric Fly Swatter Dangerous?

Electric Fly swatter is another innovation that has come up in recent times. It has been of great help in killing the unwanted flying objects like flies and mosquitoes from our homes, which have been of great concern in recent times. But, is this device completely safe? Is there any potential dangerous when people use it?

As you notice, the insects (such as flies and mosquitoes) must have been the reason for running temperatures and other health issues that sometime arise in our homes. However, today, this is not the case anymore. We can kill those nuisances with just a swipe of the Electric fly swatter.

This device at first look resembles to a toy, but it is not so. Although it looks like a badminton racquet but that wiring area is actually an electric wired grid which can be turned on by pressing the button on the handle and is operated with batteries.

Whether or not its usage is dangerous, it actually depends on how we use and store this electric powered equipment. If it's used carelessly, then it can hurt yourself or other people.

If it's left alone, then small children in the house can pick it up and start playing with it while considering it to be a toy. If they turn it on by accident then this can lead to a big disaster.

Keeping that electric fly swatter in our hands while sitting on the chair can harm us when we fall a sleep, because we could turn it on and then touch that wired grid, which can give us a big electric shock.

It's also considered dangerous if it touches the areas or substances that can be potentially ignited by electric current (Flammable substances, electrical equipments, machinery with moving parts, and sources of static electricity).

If we can keep a watch on all these things, then this electric fly swatter can prove to be a real boon instead of being dangerous if left unmanned or used carelessly. Whenever nobody is using it, we can take out the batteries and store it to save us and our beloved ones from having unpleasant incidents.
